Description: Gazebos have been around for a long time. Modern day gazebos are typically used as a decorative shelter. Amish craftsmen produce some of the finest gazebos on the market today.
Purpose: Many gazebos are placed as a garden accent but they can also provide a lovely point of refuge. Larger ones can facilitate a picnic table for outdoor dining at it’s finest.
Types & options: The most common shape is the octagon (eight sides), but they are available in a variety of shapes including; square, rectangular, oval, decagon (ten sides). Also in the gazebo family are pavilions. You’ve no doubt seen pavilions in parks and playground areas.
Gazebos come in all sizes and shapes, and can be made of metal, vinyl or wood. Our gazebos have a wide range of options such as pagoda roof, variety of styles, roof materials, flooring, screen enclosure, and even a sunroom option!
Applications: Residential, commercial, public and municipalities.
Size and placement: Both the size of area and placement must be considered before purchasing a gazebo. Sizes stated are for the footprint of the roof area. The floor footprint is typically a few inches smaller. Be sure to consider the proximity to other structures, fences, water features and swing sets. Don’t forget about sprinkler systems and overhead utility lines too. Zoning rules will determine the required set back for your specific situation. A set back is the distance from property lines that must be left ‘un-built’.
Kit vs. pre-assembled gazebos: Pre-assemble gazebos are just what the name implies. The gazebo is completely assembled and is simply set into place. This requires less labor but also present some complications. Transporting assembled gazebos can be difficult and expensive. Special permits are required in most states for wide and tall loads. Access is critical if you purchase a pre-assembled gazebo. Use of a crane is sometime needed to lift the gazebo over fences and other obstacles. A gazebo kit comes partially assembled. In quality kits, all components are pre-cut and pre-drilled for ease of transport and assembly. These smaller components can usually be hand carried through most gate openings.
Wood vs. Vinyl: Gazebos made of cedar or treated lumber can be stained, painted or left natural. Once stained or painted your gazebo will require periodic maintenance. Left natural wooden gazebos will weather much like wooden fences. Vinyl gazebos are virtually maintenance free! Top quality vinyl gazebos are wooden structures wrapped in vinyl. This provided excellent strength plus no slivers and no maintenance.
