Teak Wood Pergolas
Teak (Tactona grandis) - a hardwood tree known for being one of the most durable of all timbers, native to the arid mountainous terrains of both Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Teak is very densely grained thereby making it highly resistant to rotting, warping, swelling and shrinking. It is also parasite resistant.
Teak contains oil, which acts as a natural wood preservative protecting the wood allowing it to weather evenly in the sun developing a soft, distinguished silvery gray that requires no preservative treatments.
Teak is so durable that some of the earliest benches were recycled from the old decking of the sailing ships. You can expect your teak pergola to last for decades to come.
Teak is very smooth to the touch and will never splinter. While being very adaptable to all climates it also has a pleasant aroma.
